Degrees of freedom
I choose to be here
I choose that you are here and to be with you.
I cannot choose that for you.
You choose to be with me.
In doing so
I am complete.
When you are gone
Your memory in my memory fills a void
That I choose to keep warm
And wrap in loving thoughts
Blanketing my heart
Until you return.
But on one day
You or I will not return
And blanketed thoughts
Shall sustain a saddened love
And kindle a fire
That can no longer burn.
